Junior AFL
with the
Newtown Swans

Play footy. Make friends. Be a Swan.

Junior footy is about so much more than what happens on the field.

With the Newtown Swans, kids from 8 to 17 years can build their skills, grow in confidence, make lifelong friendships and experience what it really means to be part of a team.

Whether they're new to AFL or have been playing for years, there's a place for them in the red and white.

Based at Alan Davidson Oval, Sydney Park

What does a week of Junior footy look like?

Training

Our junior teams train once a week at Alan Davidson Oval in Sydney Park.

Training takes place on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday depending on the team, with schedules confirmed each season.

Game Day

Games are played on Saturdays and Sundays against clubs across the Inner West and wider Sydney.

Some weeks we're at home, other weeks we're on the road, so families should expect a mix of home and away travel throughout the season.

Junior AFL is a
Family Affair!

The kids might be the ones pulling on the red and white, but it takes a whole community to make junior footy happen. The Newtown Swans is a community-run club. Our teams are coached and managed by parent volunteers, and throughout the season we ask every family to lend a hand.

That could mean helping your team on game day, taking a rostered role, firing up the BBQ or simply being on the sidelines cheering on the Swannies.

The more our families put into the club, the more our kids get out of it.

What AFL age group will my child play?

Junior AFL age groups are generally based on the age a player turns by 31 December of the current calendar year. Enter your child's date of birth to find their likely age group.
